About Us

 

Angela Timpone lives in Beverly, MA and Montpelier, VT with her partner, Robert Gowans and three sons, Tristan, Dylan, and Liam. She parents two children with sufficient disabilities and understands the daily choices and challenges that brings to families.

Since 2005, Angela has worked as an advocate for families with children with disabilities. Her family-centered practice focuses on building collaborative teams (school and parents) that get win-win results.

Angela completed the parent advocacy training with the Federation for Children with Special Needs in Boston and the Harvard Law School Mediation Program along with being a member of SPaN (Special Education Advocacy Network). In addition, Angela has taken classes in family coaching from University of New Hampshire and is a certified Mind in the Making parenting class presenter.

Over the last 15 years, Angela worked to lobby for educational and healthcare legislation working for US Senator Bernie Sanders, Parenting Autism, and American Federation of Teachers.

Angela uses her extensive background in special education law, political lobbying, political negotiating and communications to help families access services and education.

In addition, Angela founded a family camp for families affected by ASD, Camp Kaleidoscope with her good friends, Jim Mendell and Peg Kamans.

Angela teaches educators, allied health professionals, and parents about ASD and special education. In addition, Angela writes for nationally, published publications with a focus on women’s issues, parenting, and autism.

Angela serves on the following boards: the Vermont Autism Task Force; Senator Sanders’ Disability Advisory Council; Montpelier ADA committee; Montpelier Housing Taskforce; and was the first parent member on the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) program advisory board at the University of Vermont School of Medicine.
